What do we do at the Abundance Foundation? A Lot. From serving underprivileged youth to educating the general public about the abundance that surrounds them, we throw numerous special events throughout the year which are connected to our mission.   • Pepper Fest- Annual celebration of local food and sustainable 0D3A0257farming that raises money for a local breeding program developing peppers that grow well in NC



  • Farming Adaptation Conference climate-change -   In 2012, a farmer approached us, asking us to put on a workshop for farmers looking for ways to combat the challenging effects of climate change on their farms.  In response, we took it one step further and held our first annual Climate Change Adaptation Conference in Feb. 2013.

  • Sustainability Speaker Series 2013 - In collaboration with CCCC and as a follow up to our 2013 Farming Adaptation Conference, we present the sustainability speaker series.
  • Small House Contest – This contest brings together 3 community collaborators to host a small house content. The primary goal of the contest is to bring visibility, attention, and research to good design around affordable, energy and resource efficient homes.


  • Harvest Abundance- Each summer we celebrate the bounty of summer crops with a fundraising soiree at the lovely Oakleaf Restaurant, a farm-to-table restaurant in Pittsboro.


  • Earth Day 5K- Earth Day is the perfect excuse to party, and to bring out our running shoes to raise money for our programs. After the morning race, the festivities continue with live music, food trucks and general revelry.


  • Pecha Kucha (“Pech-ah Ka-cha”)- pkA structured international format to speak about something you’re passionate about, this storytelling movement focuses on speakers with 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present on a topic using slides with images to help tell their story while supporting Top of the Hill in Chapel Hill.


  • Pub Runs -Every Monday at 6pm at The City Tap! Support community, local beer and The Abundance Foundation!


  • Wild Food & Herb MarketSeptember 1st_flyer_playfulThe United States’ first ever wild food and herb market opened in Carrboro on March 10th, 2013.  The Wild Food + Herb Market took place one Sunday afternoon each month on the Carrboro Commons from March through November 2013.


  • Renewable Energy and Local Food Summer Camp - In summer 2013 we expanded on the concept of youth empowerment by teaching them functional skills such as basic carpentry, foraging for wild edibles, gardening, cooking, repair and reuse, basic mechanics, contributing to a local economy, and other activities helpful in instilling personal growth and confidence, and strengthening individuals to serve their community.
